One of the greatest attributes of NYU Steinhardt’s Doctor of Physical Therapy is the diversity of students pursuing the degree. We attract students from all around the globe, whose different points of view enrich our community.
As a student, you’ll join together with your classmates in the summer semester and continue on a full-time basis for three years, including three summers of supervised clinical practice.
The DPT will expose you to clinical experience in a variety of sites affiliated with our department, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, nursing homes, private practices, and public health agencies. You will play an active role in the site selection process to ensure your clinical experience is tailored to your interests and goals.
As a graduate of the entry-level DPT, you will be a well-rounded, clinically-trained professional with the skills and expertise to work in a number of areas and careers. This includes becoming a practitioner, faculty for a physical therapy program, a supervisor in health and private facilities (hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, schools, nursing homes, private practices, health maintenance programs), and working within public service agencies.
Upon completion of the degree, you will be eligible to sit for professional licensure.
